I love this series! I was excited to read Carson’s story because he’s paired with Megan, who I’ve been really interested in getting to know. She’s appeared in previous books since she’s a cousin to the McCarthy brothers and I love her strong, playful personality.
As lovers of darker Romance, don’t we all have a weakness for the tough-but-tortured genius? (So does Megan, naturally.) It’s a flavor of Hero I come back to again and again, because it always satisfies – and Ms. Henry serves Carson up oh-so-deliciously.
I adore these characters! Carson has such a solitary nature, a love of hearth and home. Megan has a caring heart, connection to family, and outgoing spirit. She’s a woman who protects herself but loves with her entire soul. They seem like very different people but when they get together, they’re in synch. They need the same things.
“But this, right here is where my heart longs to rest, in the perfect balance of simple pleasures. Companionship.” – Megan
Carson is a single Dad – his relationship with his daughter, Breena, is the single most important thing in his life. I love their dynamic, how they interact. At the same time, Maeve’s interactions with Breena are so real to me.
With each new book, I find myself smiling at something totally unexpected, and it gives what are all exceptionally good books even greater depth of emotion.
As with the McCarthy boys, Carson’s story has an exceptional plot with a very interesting twist. I thought I’d seen it coming, but Ms. Henry managed pull it all together in a way that I did NOT see coming. Well done!
